Just overheard a customer say 'why can't it be fixed in 15 minutes like a car'
I was doing a service call at the Hilton downtown near 5th and Main yesterday and this guest was complaining to the front desk that we were taking too long on their elevator. They said they take their car to Jiffy Lube and it's done in 15 minutes so why can't we do the same. Really made me think about how people have no clue what goes into working on a traction elevator with a 24 year old controller. Has anyone else had to bite their tongue when a customer compares this job to something completely different?

Buddy of mine does HVAC. Guy told him "my car AC works in 5 minutes, why's this take 3 hours?" He almost walked off the job right there.

And nobody ever tells the Jiffy Lube guy their car needs to be 100% perfect or people die. A car stalls on the highway, you pull over. An elevator stops between floors, someone's having a real bad day trapped in a metal box.
