Hit 50 elevator leveling adjustments in one shift and my back is screaming

Tuesday was wild. I had to tweak 50 landing switch positions across a 12-story office building. Every single one was off by like a quarter inch. That many ladder climbs and crouches in 8 hours? Not normal. Anyone else run into a building where every floor was just slightly out of level?

Ha, gotta disagree a bit with @amy_murphy85 there. A quarter inch across every floor is totally normal for a building that's been settling for over a decade, especially if the slab was poured on garbage fill.

The building settling thing is real, but a quarter inch off on every single floor? That sounds more like a framing issue from day one. Slab settlement usually gives you a gradual shift across the whole building, not a random quarter inch per landing. My bet is the original installers rushed the leveling and never came back to tweak it, so it never worked right. Hopefully your chiropractor takes cash, because that many crouches on a 12-story is brutal.

Blame the building settling, that's what they always say. Honestly, your back is probably crying into a heating pad right now. Tbh, those quarter-inch differences add up to a whole lot of misery after ladder number 15. Ngl, a 50-tweak shift sounds like the building was designed by a toddler with a level. Hope you grabbed a beer and a hot bath as soon as you clocked out. Your spine deserves a medal and maybe a chiropractor's business card.
