Got called out for a stuck car in a 12-story building downtown last Thursday.

Found a broken limit switch on the 9th floor. Had to replace it while the car was parked between floors. The building manager kept coming by every 20 minutes asking when it would be done. Finally got it running after three hours. Anyone else get that kind of pressure from a site manager on a simple part swap?

Three hours for a limit switch? That manager hovering every 20 minutes is the worst part of the job. Makes a simple fix take forever.

That kind of micromanaging just kills all momentum. You finally get into a rhythm and then have to stop and explain yourself. It turns a half hour job into a full morning ordeal. The worst part is they never seem to trust that you know what you're doing. Makes the whole day feel twice as long.

Best thing I ever did was ask for a quick 5 minute check in before I start work on something, then they don't interrupt me again until I bring it up myself. It gave me back control over my own pace and cut the hovering by like 80%.
