Why does nobody talk about hitting 500 board repairs in a year
I just crossed 500 repairs on my bench last week and honestly it caught me off guard. I work at a small shop in Tucson and we mostly do iPhone screens and laptop charging ports, nothing fancy. But tracking that number made me realize how many people just toss devices instead of fixing them. Has anyone else kept count of their repairs and been surprised by the volume?

500 repairs in a year is a lot but calling it "nobody talks about" feels off to me. I see threads on here all the time about hitting big repair numbers, it's just not the flashy stuff people post about. There's a guy on the discord who logs every single board he does and he's at 1,200 for the year with mostly laptop power supplies and some monitor power boards. Maybe I just hang out in different corners of this forum where people do talk about it? What kind of repairs are you mostly doing to hit that number?

Yeah totally agree with you @stella_murray. I see the same thing on here too, people post about their repair counts all the time. I'm doing mostly small appliance power supplies and some LED driver boards, and I'm closing in on 400 for the year myself. It's not glamorous work but it adds up quick when you're just churning through the boring stuff nobody takes pictures of.

Nobody takes pictures of" yeah okay that's your whole point right there. If nobody takes pictures, then it doesn't really happen on this forum does it. You can't just say people talk about it when the evidence is right in the feed. I see people posting about their big repairs all the time, not the boring stuff nobody cares about. So maybe you and that guy on discord are having a totally different conversation than the rest of us. The fact that you're "closing in on 400" and nobody else is bragging about it kinda proves my point, don't you think.
