TIL a quick fix for unresponsive touchpads

An old laptop came in with a touchpad that barely moved the cursor. Instead of replacing the whole assembly, I opened it up. There was a tiny ribbon cable that had worked loose over time. I reseated it and secured the connection. The touchpad started working perfectly. It's a small victory, but it saves the customer money and keeps the device out of the landfill. More people should try simple checks before assuming the worst.

Love seeing simple fixes like this work.

Our old coffee machine started blinking weird codes last week. I unplugged it for 30 seconds, plugged it back in, and it's been perfect ever since. Such a relief when a 3 second fix solves what feels like a major problem.

Totally agree with you. It feels like winning a tiny lottery when that happens. I get so ready for a big, expensive hassle and then the answer is just to turn it off and on again. Makes you wonder how many "broken" things out there just need a quick reset.
