Pro tip: That week I had to replace 12 identical swollen laptop batteries from a single office batch taught me to always check the manufacturing date code first.
Honestly, it was a brutal three days of the same repair over and over, but now I ask for the date before I even open the case, so has anyone else found a faster way to spot these time-bomb batches?

My old shop had a wall of shame for bad date codes, we called it the calendar of doom. It was just a whiteboard with months circled in red marker, felt like defusing bombs. The worst was a run of 2017 laptop batteries that all puffed up right after the warranty ended.

Yeah, checking the date code first is key. My buddy had a similar thing with a whole pallet of power supplies that all failed within a month of each other.
