Hot take: My cousin treats my repair skills like a free tech support line
It's fine to help family, but when it's every weekend for his gaming console, it's too much. People need to learn that expertise isn't free, even for relatives.

My family still calls me for free home repairs, so I get it.

But is it really such a bad thing? Sometimes helping family is just what you do. My cousin helped me move last year, no charge. I fixed his laptop. That's how it works. If you start charging for every little job, you turn kindness into a business. What happens when you need a favor later?

Honestly it's not just family though. Tbh I see this everywhere now, like neighbors expecting free tech support or friends asking for professional advice over a beer. It adds up and people start to feel used. Ngl it's fine to help out, but when it becomes your only role to them, that's when it gets old. Kinda feels like some folks just keep a mental tally of favors instead of seeing you as a person.
