Had a 2012 MacBook Pro come in with a dead GPU, the classic 'black screen of death' issue. Tried the oven reflow trick as a last resort.

My old repair shop in Austin had a toaster oven just for this. The real problem is the lead-free solder Apple used back then, it gets brittle with heat cycles. You're not fixing the chip, you're just re-melting those bad joints for a few more months of life. It's a temporary hack that buys time to get your files off, not a real fix.

Honestly, I've seen that oven fix work for years, lisak26, when there's nothing left to lose.
