Shoutout to the apprentice who labeled a 277-volt circuit 'lights' in a Seattle office building
I was up in the drop ceiling to swap a ballast, cut the wire, and got a bright blue flash that knocked my screwdriver across the room. Turns out the 'lights' circuit was actually feeding a rooftop AC unit's control panel. What's the most creative mislabel you've found on a panel schedule?

That sounds terrifying, glad you're okay. I swear, some of those old panel schedules are more like creative writing projects than actual guides. The worst one I ever found was just the word "stuff" for a whole circuit in a restaurant basement. It turned out to be the walk-in freezer. You really do have to test everything yourself, no matter what the label says.

Man, that's a classic. I once saw "misc plugs" on a schedule for a whole server room. Took out half the office computers when someone shut it off for a "simple" outlet repair. Another good one was "fan" for a 480v exhaust blower motor. You just never know what you're walking into until you test it yourself. Always trust your meter, not the sharpie on the door.
