Rant: blew $300 on a so-called "smart" breaker panel and regret it
I bought one of those smart load center panels from a startup company about 6 months ago. Figured it would help me monitor circuits remotely for this big remodel in Austin. The app crashes every other day and the WiFi module died within 3 months. Customer service told me to reset it 12 times before they admitted it's a known issue. Anyone else get burned by these internet-connected panels yet?

Oh man, that sucks. Get a regular panel and a separate meter.

My coworker Mike bought one of those cheap combo units last year and spent three weekends fighting with the wiring before it sparked and killed half his basement power. He ended up paying an electrician $400 to rip it out and put in a proper panel plus a separate meter like you said. Saved himself a headache in the long run but man what a mess.

Yeah exact same thing happened to my neighbor @claire_wells87... learned that lesson the hard way too.
