PSA: Took a contract job up north, their service panels were a mess of unlabeled circuits. Bring a tracer.

Tracing every single circuit sounds like a huge waste of billable hours. An experienced sparky should be able to figure out most of it by sight and then test carefully with a meter. Relying on a tracer for a simple panel just slows the whole job down, doesn't it?

You'd be surprised how often sight alone misses hidden splices. In an old house we worked on, a wire looked disconnected but fed another room through the attic. Skipping the tracer meant missing that link, which could trip breakers later. Sure, test with a meter first, but tracing catches those sneaky branches. It might add an hour now but prevents call backs next week. Ever had a circuit act up because of one hidden connection?

Trust the tracer, it saves more time later.
