A homeowner in Phoenix told me my panel labeling was confusing, so I changed my whole system.

That part about the homeowner saying the labeling was confusing really hits home. I read an article last week about how clear labels are a safety thing, not just a neatness thing. It said a firefighter or a new electrician needs to know exactly what each switch does in an emergency. Changing your whole system sounds like a big job, but getting it right for the customer is the whole point. It probably saves a ton of headaches later on.

What finally worked for me was just walking the house and flipping breakers one by one...

Yeah, the "safety thing, not just a neatness thing" line is key. I've seen panels where someone just wrote "stuff" on a circuit. Not "kitchen lights," just "stuff." In an emergency, that's a real help. It's like labeling your breakers in a secret code only you understand, and then forgetting the code.
