Vent: My sump pump gave out during that rainstorm last Thursday

Came home to a flooded basement after that big downpour hit my neighborhood in St. Albert. Turns out the pump motor seized up because I hadn't tested it since last spring when I moved in. Anyone else forget to check their basement systems until something breaks?

My neighbor in Edmonton lost his whole basement last year from the same thing, and I honestly used to think it was just bad luck. But seeing your story too really changed my mind about being more proactive with that stuff lol. Definitely setting those phone reminders now.

Ugh, that stinks... literally and figuratively. I did the exact same thing last year with my dehumidifier, just assumed it was running fine until the basement smelled like a swamp. Now I set a reminder on my phone to check all that stuff every few months, lesson learned the hard way I guess.
