That time at the Ritchie Market hardware store made me ditch cheap caulking for good

I grabbed a $3 tube from the clearance bin and it cracked within a month on my bathroom trim, what brands have held up for you folks in Edmonton's dry winters?

The Ritchie Market clearance bin got me too a few years back with a $2 tube of something that looked like it would work but turned into dust by February. It's funny how cheap caulk ends up costing more when you have to redo it every season, kinda like how @simonp47 mentioned that gritty toothpaste stuff still works fine for him-sometimes the cheap stuff holds up and sometimes it doesn't, no rhyme or reason. I've noticed this pattern everywhere in Edmonton where people try to save a few bucks on something and end up paying twice in labour and frustration later on. Dap Alex Plus has been my go-to for bathrooms too, and I swear by spending the extra $4 just to avoid that crumbly mess in January. Its like buying winter boots here you either pay for quality upfront or you're stuck with wet feet all season.

lol that clearance bin stuff is such a gamble. I've had good luck with Dap Alex Plus for bathroom stuff here, it doesn't turn into a crumbly mess after a couple of freeze-thaw cycles. Big thing is to make sure you're getting something rated for below zero temps or it'll just snap like a popsicle stick.

Dug out a tube of half-frozen caulk last winter and it came out like gritty toothpaste, still sealed leaks fine though.
