Pulled out a rotting fence panel and found a whole ant colony had moved in behind it

I was replacing a section of fence along my back alley in Strathcona last Tuesday and the wood basically crumbled when I touched it. Turns out the rot went four feet deep into the ground and I had to dig out a massive hole to get the old post out. Anyone else ever uncover a nasty surprise when tearing out old fencing?

Damn! My buddy found a whole wasp nest behind his fence lol.

Hold up, I gotta disagree here. Finding a wasp nest is nothing to laugh about, that's a serious problem. Those things can get huge and aggressive if you don't deal with them fast. Your buddy should get rid of it before someone gets stung bad, especially if kids or pets are around. It's not funny until somebody ends up in the ER.

I mean, wasps are actually pretty beneficial for the garden though, so maybe it's not that bad.
