My neighbor told me to skip the vapor barrier in my basement reno, and I'm glad I didn't listen.

He said it traps moisture, but the contractor I hired in Mill Woods said it's code here and prevents mold. Anyone have a good Edmonton inspector who can confirm the right way to do it?

Listen to your contractor, not your neighbor. Vapor barrier is 100% needed in our climate to keep things dry. Had a buddy skip it and he ended up with a musty mess a year later.
