Frost proof spigots are way overrated for Edmonton winters
Everyone swears by those frost proof outdoor faucets but I went back to a regular spigot with a shutoff valve inside the basement. After 3 years the frost proof one still froze up on me last January when we hit -40 for a week. Has anyone else had better luck just using the interior shutoff?

Man those frost proof ones are just fancy looking pipe with a gimmick. A solid interior shutoff and a good drain before winter beats them every time in real cold.

Have you actually tried them in a real deep freeze though?

That frost proof thing is just a bandaid, not a cure.
