Waste of money on that fancy auto-taper

Bought a $600 automatic taper last month. Snapped the feed wheel on the third job. Back to hand taping with my old banjo. Anyone else have bad luck with power tools on firetape?

Broke the feed wheel three jobs in? Man, that's brutal. The whole point of spending that kind of cash is to save time, not end up back on the banjo with a busted tool. Must have been a bad batch of metal or something because that shouldn't happen.

Bad batch of metal" is what I was thinking too, but did you actually reach out to the manufacturer about it? I'm curious if they owned up to it or tried to blame it on something else.
