Vent: my taping knife snapped mid-finish on a ceiling repair yesterday

Was smoothing out the third coat on a bedroom ceiling in a house off Old Highway 99, and my 12 inch stainless just gave up halfway through a long pull. Heard that sickening ting sound and saw the blade crack right at the handle. Had to stop, dig out my 6 inch from the truck, and feather the rest by doing like 6 narrow passes. Took me an extra 45 minutes and the texture came out a bit uneven. Anybody else have a favorite brand that doesn't snap on em?

Jump right into calling that thing a betrayal, not just a broken tool. Nothing like a good old stainless steel blade deciding to go belly up right when you're getting that perfect finish. I swear, some brands think "stainless" means "stainless until you actually try to use it for its job." Bet your 6 inch felt like a toy after fighting with a 12. Hope the homeowner didn't notice the texture, or at least blamed it on the "character" of the repair.

@the_jenny exactly right. My 6 inch felt like a butter knife after that disaster.
