Tried wet sanding instead of dry sanding on a big job last month

I was doing a 2,000 square foot basement and the dust was choking me out by hour two on the first room. So I grabbed a sponge soaked in water and went over the mud before it fully set, smoothed it down while barely making any dust. Has anyone else tried this on a larger scale or am I just asking for trouble with the paper tape lifting?

Wet sanding saved my lungs on a garage job last fall, worked perfectly.

Hang on, you were wet sanding INSIDE a garage? That sounds risky as hell with all the electrical stuff around. I can't imagine having a water hose going near power tools and outlets. Did you have everything unplugged or something?

Garage wet sanding is a whole different beast. Did that once on a buddy's Mustang and we ended up running a wet/dry vac the whole time just to keep the floor from turning into a slip n slide. Margaret304 brings up a good point about the dust though, that stuff gets everywhere. We had every outlet covered with plastic bags and duct tape, but I still wouldn't do it again without a full circuit breaker shut off just to be safe.
