Tried those fiberglass mesh tapes for a butt joint and got a huge surprise
Figured I'd give it a shot on a ceiling patch last Tuesday since paper tape always bubbles on me there, but the mud cracked right through the mesh after 3 days. Has anyone else had that happen or did I just pick bad tape?

Oh man, I switched to paper tape with all purpose mud and never looked back!

Watch those inside corners though, paper tape loves to bubble up if you dont press it tight enough with the mud. A 6 inch knife on the first coat saves you a ton of sanding later. Keep your mud a little looser than you think you need and it'll embed way better.
