TIL some guys prefer blue board over regular drywall

I was talking to an old timer at the supply yard last week. He said blue board with veneer plaster looks way better and lasts longer than standard drywall and tape. I always thought it was just extra cost. But he showed me photos of a 20 year old job in a bar downtown, not a single crack. Now I'm wondering if I should offer it as an option on my next residential job. Has anyone else switched to using blue board for certain clients?

Watched a restoration crew try to use regular drywall in a old church once, what a disaster.

That whole 'what a disaster' line hit close to home for me actually. My friend tried to match old plaster with standard sheetrock in her 1920s bungalow and the moisture just destroyed it within a year. She had to rip it all out and pay triple to get lime plaster done right. @clark.robin is right, these old buildings have their own rules and you can't just slap modern materials on them like they're the same thing. It's like trying to put a square peg in a round hole, everything just fights against you.
