That cheap tape vs. FibaFuse choice cost me a full redo

I had to decide between standard paper tape and FibaFuse for a basement job last month in Portland (you know, damp conditions). I went with the cheap paper tape to save $40 on the whole order. Three days later I spotted bubbles and peeling along every seam because the moisture got to it. Had to rip out 8 sheets of drywall and start over. Has anyone else gambled on tape and lost real time?

Bought a cheap roll of that standard mesh tape for a bathroom reno and regretted it within a week. The humidity from the shower made it bubble up like crazy, and I ended up scraping it all off with a putty knife. Switched to FibaFuse on the second go and it's been solid for over a year now with zero issues. In my opinion the extra cost is worth it if you have any moisture at all, even in a basement like yours. Take it from someone who learned the hard way too.
