Tbh, my level gave a false reading and now a whole wall is out of plumb.

Honestly, I trusted it and now I have to tear out and rehang three sheets. Ngl, this set me back a full day.

Feel your pain, my tape measure has betrayed me like that too.

Ugh, I was the same way. I used to just grab my level and go, trusting it completely. After a shelf disaster that looked like a rollercoaster, I learned the hard way. Now I check it against a door frame I know is good every single time I pick it up. It adds ten seconds and saves a full redo.

Oh man, that's brutal. I hear you, but a level doesn't really give a "false reading" on its own. They just get out of whack over time. You have to check them against a known good surface, or better yet, a second level, before starting big work. A bump off the ladder or a temperature change can knock the vials out of true. Always test it on something you know is flat and plumb first. It's a hard lesson, but it saves so much headache later.
