Overheard a guy at the supply house saying he skips sanding between coats
He said it saves him 45 minutes per room and nobody notices. Does he just not care about the finish, or am I wasting my time with 150 grit every single time?

What kind of paint is he even using? Because there is no way he's getting a smooth finish with a satin or semigloss without knocking down the nibs between coats lol. I've tried skipping it once on a trim job and you could see every little dust speck and brush mark under the second coat. 150 grit takes like 5 minutes per room tops, 45 minutes my ass.

Sanding between coats is one of those things that seems like a pain until you skip it once and regret it forever. I feel for the guy, but he's definitely cutting corners and it's gonna show eventually. You're not wasting your time, that's just what makes a finish look like you actually care.

45 minutes??? Holy crap, I thought my buddy was exaggerating when he said he was skipping sanding to save time. That's insane, you could literally sand 9 rooms in that time if the guy is taking 5 minutes per room like you said. Some people really need to learn that prep work is where the magic happens, not the actual painting part.
