My drywall lift buckled on me mid-job yesterday
I was hanging a 12-foot ceiling board in a garage remodel and the lift just folded sideways around the 10-foot mark. Thank God I had a helper spotting me, but we had to cut that sheet in half to get it down safely. Has anyone else had a lift fail like that on a job?

Used to think those cheap lifts were fine for small jobs, but this honestly changed my mind. I mean, saving a few bucks isn't worth that kind of risk when you're up high with heavy board.

Yikes, that sounds like a nightmare. I've seen a couple older lifts get wobbly near max height but never a full buckle like that. Honestly I'd be calling the manufacturer to see if there's a known defect or recall on that model.

Glad you and your helper are okay man, that could have gone way worse. Totally agree with @alice336 about calling the manufacturer too, they need to know this happened so nobody else gets hurt. I've seen a few people try to mod those cheaper lifts to hold more weight and it's just asking for trouble. Honestly makes you realize how important it is to have a solid brand even if it costs a bit more.
