Heard a guy at the supply house say he marks his mud knives with nail polish
He said a dot on the handle tells him which one is his on a big crew job. I tried it with a blue stripe and haven't lost a knife in three months. What other little tricks do you guys use to keep track of your tools?

That nail polish trick works until you're on a crew where three other guys have the same idea. I saw two red dot knives get mixed up last week because they used the same color. My old foreman taught me to wrap a few inches of bright green electrical tape around the handle instead. It peels off clean and you can spot your tool from across the room.

@simons28's tape trick shows how good fixes spread fast.

Remember that time everyone marked their water bottles with the same black sharpie at a job site? I ended up drinking three sips of some guy's backwash before I noticed. Now I just put a weird sticker on mine, like a cartoon pickle or something. You ever accidentally use the wrong tool because the markings were too common?
