debate: $60 mud pan vs the $8 plastic one
I shelled out $60 for a stainless steel mud pan and honestly it's way easier to clean than the cheap plastic ones. But my buddy says he goes through one plastic pan a month for $8 each and doesn't see the value. Which side you on for daily use?

I grabbed a $60 stainless pan a year ago and it's still spotless, my buddy's plastic ones have a dent by week two every time.

Yeah but the thing nobody talks about is how heat distribution changes over time. My old roommate had a cheap nonstick that worked fine for six months, then suddenly the hot spots got brutal and it started sticking (even before the coating failed). Stainless might take more effort to clean but it stays consistent, you know? The pan's performance doesn't drift as it ages. Your buddy's plastic pans might dent fast, but even the coating on decent ones can start breaking down way before you'd expect. It's not just about looks or dents, it's about whether the pan cooks the same on year two as it did on day one.

Have you ever thought about how the pan's weight can mess with heat too? My old stainless was light as a feather and warped after a year, turned into a wobble mess on the stove. The thicker ones hold up way better, so you gotta check that when you buy.
