Can we talk about the time I tried to mud a ceiling sideways

I was working on this kitchen ceiling in an old house out in the suburbs, thought I'd save time by running my mud joints horizontal instead of vertical. Big mistake... the tape buckled on me three times before I gave up and did it the right way. Ended up spending an extra two hours sanding down the mess and redoing eight feet of seam. My foreman just shook his head and said "you know better than that." Anyone else ever get too clever with a shortcut that just backfired?

Oh man, I've been there. That feeling when you think you're being clever and it just blows up in your face is the worst. Nothing like adding extra hours to your day for a lesson you already knew.

Three years ago I spent a whole weekend trying to automate a spreadsheet for inventory tracking. I was so proud of myself, thought I was some kind of genius. Ended up corrupting the data and had to manually re-enter 400 items on a Monday morning. That's when I finally got why people say "if it ain't broke don't fix it." You really do learn the hard way sometimes.
