A live wire spark during a bathroom drywall hang has me using a tester now

Last month, I was putting up sheets in an old house's bathroom redo. I went to cut a hole for a new light box with my saw, not thinking to look behind the wall first. The blade touched a hot wire, and a bright spark shot out right near my hand. I stumbled back fast, my whole body tense from the surprise. No one was injured, but it shook me up good thinking what might have happened. Since then, I grab my voltage tester before any cut, even for small fixes. It takes a moment extra, but that beat is way better than a shock or worse. Guys, really, do a quick check for wires to keep safe on the job.

Had a close call like that too. Drilling into what I thought was a stud. Whole drill bit lit up blue for a second. Arm went totally numb up to my elbow. Heart was pounding for an hour. Now my tester is basically glued to my hand. That little beep is the best sound ever.

Yikes, nothing like a surprise spark to teach you the lesson the hard way... glad you're checking now.
