That week in March when the Mississippi dropped 4 feet overnight and we pulled up a buried car
We were running a cutterhead near Baton Rouge and the river just fell out from under us, exposing this 1980s sedan half sunk in the mud, and it took us three days to clear the debris without shredding our pump.

Man, that bit about the river "falling out from under us" really hit me. It's wild how fast water can just vanish like that and leave you dealing with a mess you never saw coming. Three days of slow work to save the pump, that's some real patience right there.

Wait, hold on - THREE DAYS of slow work? Not like, one afternoon with a wrench and some determination? Man, that is just nuts to me. I'd be pulling my hair out by hour six, probably would have given up and called someone who actually knows what they're doing. The patience to just keep at it, inch by inch, watching that water level stay gone... that's almost harder than the physical work itself. Did you at least have some good music or podcasts to keep you company, or was it just you and the sound of a dying pump for 72 hours straight?
