Switched from wire rope to chain on my ladder dredge setup
I ran wire rope for about 2 years on my 6-inch dredge up near the Klamath River, but I kept dealing with fraying and kinking when the current pushed my hose around. Last month I swapped to a 3/8-inch grade 70 chain and it handles the twisting way better. Has anyone else tried chain instead of cable for their ladder rig?

Grantadams nailed it, totally agree, the chain just lets her breathe.

That thing about the chain handling twisting better reminds me of how so many problems in life come down to giving yourself a little more flexibility. I used to use super stiff hoses on my home gutters and they'd kink up and snap all the time, switched to a more flexible rubber hose and haven't had a problem since. It's like the chain just lets the whole rig move with the current instead of fighting it. Sometimes the simple, beefier solution really is the right call.
