Rant: That Tuesday on the Mississippi River that went sideways

Last week we were dredging near Baton Rouge and the cutterhead jammed on a submerged tree trunk. Took us 6 hours to clear it out and lost a whole shift of production. Anyone else deal with random junk coming up from the bottom that slows the whole job down?

Ugh, tell me about it! I'm pretty sure the Mississippi River floor is just one giant lost-and-found of old tires and bad decisions waiting to mess up your day.

That submerged junk is like life, always throwing hidden obstacles in your path when you least expect it.

Man, "hidden obstacles" is EXACTLY it. I had a similar thing happen last summer out on the lake. Thought I was cruising in a clear spot, then BAM - my prop hit a something hard I couldn't even see. Turned out to be a chunk of concrete someone dumped. Total pain. What worked for me was slowing way down in any muddy water and using a depth finder, even if it feels paranoid. Now I creep through those spots instead of trusting the surface. Just know you're not the only one dealing with that hidden junk.
