Picked a hydraulic cutter over an excavator attachment, glad I did

Had to choose between renting a hydraulic cutter or buying a used excavator attachment for a job near Tampa last month. Went with the cutter because the dredge line had tight spots the attachment couldn't reach. It handled 40 feet of pipe in one day, anyone else made this swap and stuck with it?

The tight spots thing is exactly why I made the same call a few years back. I had a job where the excavator arm just couldnt snake into the culverts we were working, and the cutter got through 60 feet of old clay pipe without me having to reposition the machine every ten minutes. One thing I learned though, keep a spare set of cutting blades on hand, the carbide ones can chip fast if you hit rebar or gravel packed in there. Also, dont bother with the cheap hydraulic hoses, spend a bit more on the reinforced ones or youll be swapping them out midshift.
