I keep seeing new guys treat the swing like it's a car steering wheel

They crank it hard left or right every time they want to move the dredge a few feet, but that just throws the whole ladder off alignment. My old foreman Tom showed me 15 years ago that small, gradual adjustments keep the cut consistent and save you from having to re-dig the same spot twice. Has anyone else noticed this getting worse with the newer crews?

Honestly, that's wild. I can't believe people are actually cranking it like a steering wheel, like they're trying to drift the dredge or something.

Hold up, wait. People are actually doing full cranks on the swing like they're parallel parking a truck? That's insane. I've seen guys take ten minutes to re-align the ladder after a move like that, and then they wonder why their cut looks like a snake track. Tom was right - you gotta nudge it, not wrench it.
