Had a close call with the ladder on the cutter suction dredge in Mobile Bay last month.
A big piece of timber got caught in the ladder and the whole thing started shaking like crazy. I shut it down quick and we had to clear it by hand, took almost three hours. What's your go-to move when you get a bad jam in the ladder?

My go-to move is usually to panic for a solid minute before I remember how the machine works. Real professional over here.

Yeah, the classic "just give it more power" move. Always ends well. Like watching someone try to unclog a sink by just running the disposal longer. Next thing you know, you're not just pulling out a stick, you're fishing for pieces of a broken cutter chain. Real high-level problem solving there.

Shutting it down fast is the only move, honestly. Seen too many guys try to power through and just make a mess ten times worse. Tbh it reminds me of how people handle problems in general. They see something stuck and their first instinct is to push harder instead of stopping to figure out the real issue. Clearing a jam by hand sucks for three hours, but it beats wrecking the whole ladder. Sometimes you just gotta stop the machine and deal with the slow, annoying fix.
