Everyone swears by the new turbos but I'll take my old clamshell any day

Had a job on the Mississippi River near Baton Rouge last month where I was running next to a guy with a brand new turbodredge 4000. He was digging through that same clay layer at double my speed but then his pump clogged three times in one shift. My old clamshell might be slower but I can count on one hand how many times I've had to stop and unclog in the last 5 years. Anybody else sticking with older gear because it's more reliable?

Used to be all about the new tech until I watched a brand new turbodredge spend half the day unclogging while my old clamshell kept running. Reliability beats speed when you're on the clock.

Yeah but did you factor in the extra half hour you gotta spend on the clock just watching the new stuff sit there and think about its life choices? I swear some of these fancy machines are built more for trade show demos than actual work days. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather have a clunker that makes me money every day than a showpiece that makes me chase clogs. Idk, call me old school but a shovel and a prayer is still cheaper than a service call on a robot.
