Wasted $600 on a laser measurer that barely works outside
Bought this fancy Bosch laser level for site layout work thinking it'd save me time, but it totally fails in direct sunlight and gives error codes half the time. Anyone else had better luck with a different brand for outdoor measuring?

Fails in direct sunlight" is the main issue I've heard about with those. I read a review that said the Leica models handle glare way better if you're looking at that price range.

Is it really that big of a deal though? I've had worse issues with phone screens in direct sun and it's not like you're staring at your viewfinder for hours.

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one hard! Direct sunlight is brutal for composing shots and checking focus, and if your viewfinder blacks out or washes out completely you're basically shooting blind. I'd argue that reliability in bright conditions matters way more than edge cases like glare from side light, since most outdoor photographers deal with harsh overhead sun way more often than they think.
