Tried a different layer order in my CAD hatch patterns and saved 20 minutes
Been using the same hatch pattern order for years on my architectural details. Last week I moved the insulation hatch above the drywall layer in my CAD file and suddenly everything plotted way cleaner. No more overlapping lines or weird gaps. Has anyone else found a simple layer reorder that made a big difference?

Man that's a really good catch. I had a similar thing with my section hatches - moved the concrete pattern above the rebar layer and it stopped looking like a mess of random lines. Little stuff like that makes a huge difference when you're printing.

Wait, did you have to redo a bunch of hatches after moving the pattern or did it just work out on the next print? That's a really good point about layer order, @milestaylor. I've been fighting with some messy section lines on a retaining wall detail and I bet that's exactly what I'm doing wrong. Going to try swapping my concrete hatch up above the rebar and see if it cleans up the view.

Honestly I kinda disagree. Swapping layers like that can sometimes mess with your lineweights when you plot. I keep concrete hatches on their own layer below rebar and just adjust the hatch scale to keep it from looking like garbage. Different strokes I guess but it's worked fine for me for years.
