The look on my face when I saw my first CAD drawing from 2004 vs now

I was digging through some old job files on a backup drive last night. Found a floor plan I did back in 2004 for a small bathroom remodel, using AutoCAD 2000 with no layers. Compared it to a drawing I finished last week for a 3 story apartment complex, full of dynamic blocks and xrefs. My old drawing looked like a kindergartner scribbled on graph paper with a crayon. Has anyone else gone back and looked at their earliest work and just cringed?

Is that just how software updates work or are we actually getting better at this? I heard somewhere that the first drawings most architects and designers make are just bad because they haven't learned to think in layers yet. Your 2004 drawing probably did the job fine, it just looked rough compared to what you can do now.

Most architects and designers just haven't learned to think in layers yet" - yeah maybe, but I feel like we overthink this whole "getting better" thing lol. Sometimes a drawing just works even if it looks janky, you know? Like the 2004 version probably got the point across fine without needing to be some masterpiece.
