That Tuesday where every dimension I pulled was off by half an inch

Last Tuesday I was laying out a stair stringer for a deck in Columbus and every single measurement I pulled came out wrong, like the tape measure was cursed or something lol. Turns out my old tape had a bent hook from dropping it off a ladder a month ago, so it was adding a half inch on every pull. Anyone else had a tool fail them in the dumbest way mid-job?

Same thing happened to me with a framing square last fall, the little lip on the tongue had worn down so every angle was off by that same stupid half inch (found out after two whole walls were up). I still check the hook on my tape before every job now, learned that lesson the hard way.
