That magnetic holder for my scale tape was a game changer on site
Tbh I thought it was just a gimmick when my buddy in Austin swore by it, but after dropping my tape 3 times off a scissor lift in one morning I caved. Has anyone else found a cheap storage hack that actually holds up on a job site?

Is dropping a tape three times really that big of a deal?

lol it's less about the tape and more about noticing how people just stop caring about quality once they're almost done with something. Same thing happens when I'm building furniture and rush the last few screws.

9 times out of 10 that tape still works fine after being dropped, so @barbaraw47 is right to question it. But the real issue isn't the tape itself - it's what happens in your head when you drop it. You pick it up, give it a look, maybe spin the reel with your thumb, and suddenly you're questioning every measurement you've taken since lunch. That little seed of doubt makes you rush the final cuts just to be done with it. It's like when you bump your phone's level app and spend the rest of the day eyeballing everything on edge. The tape drop becomes an excuse to check out early, and that's when mistakes really happen. We've all been there - that last measurement is the one that haunts you.
