Started using a lead holder instead of mechanical pencils. Old school feels right.
I got tired of snapping 0.5mm leads every time I leaned into a line. A guy at a supply shop in Ohio told me to try a 2mm lead holder. Picked one up for like 12 bucks. Feels different in the hand, takes some getting used to, but I havent broken a lead in 2 weeks. The constant sharpening with a little sandpaper is a pain though. Anyone else make that switch and stick with it?

Man that sandpaper sharpening is the only thing keeping me from going all in on it. I feel your pain there.

Grab yourself a pointer sharpener that works with 2mm leads. I got one for like 8 bucks online and it saves a ton of time compared to sandpaper. The cheap plastic ones work fine, just go slow so you don't snap the tip off. Another trick is to keep a fine file or sanding block with two grits, coarse for shaping and fine for smoothing. Your mileage may vary but once you get the sharpening routine down it becomes second nature.
