Appreciation post: hand drafting vs. learning CAD in my 30s
I used to lay out entire floor plans with a drafting board, a 0.5mm lead holder, and way too many eraser crumbs. Switched to AutoCAD around 2005 when a contractor I worked with said, 'You're gonna need to learn this or get left behind.' The muscle memory for drawing straight lines by hand is still there, but man, Ctrl+Z saves a lot of paper. Anyone else miss the smell of ammonia from those old blueprints?
