TIL I've been mixing drywall mud way too thin for years
Watched a guy on a job site in Denver mix his mud to a peanut butter consistency and it clicked why my patches always sagged. He laughed and said 'you're not making soup, man.' Has anyone else been overwatering their joint compound?

Read somewhere that pros aim for a mayo or peanut butter thickness every time. Took me way too long to figure out why my corner beads kept cracking.

Man, I heard a guy who ran drywall crews for 20 years say the same thing about peanut butter thickness. He said most people mix it too thin because they're rushing, then the mud shrinks too much and cracks show up later. Ever tried adding a little water at a time and mixing longer than you think you need to?
