So tired of people painting over peeling paint instead of scraping first
My neighbor just spent 3 days repainting his front porch and it already looks like garbage because he painted right over flaking paint. I told him to scrape and sand first but he said "it'll be fine" and now the new paint is peeling off in strips after one rain. I see this all the time on my block here in Austin and it drives me crazy because they end up doing twice the work later. Why do people think slapping new paint over old crud actually works?

Ha oh man I feel this in my bones. I once painted over chipping paint on my own fence and it looked great for like a week then just fell off in sad little flakes, I honestly shouldve known better but I was lazy.

Ugh, nothing stings quite like watching your hard work peel off in front of your eyes!

Oh man, that visual of the sad little flakes just killed me @jones.anna. I bet it's not just the paint either, but knowing you'll have to scrape it all off again before you can even prep for round two. I wonder if using a bonding primer first would've helped, but honestly sometimes you just gotta learn the hard way with outdoor projects.
