My switch from power tools to manual after a bathroom reno in Memphis

I was gutting my half bath two months ago in Memphis and used an electric saw for the vanity cuts. The dust cloud covered everything and I spent three hours cleaning it off the toilet and sink. A guy named Pete down at the hardware store told me I should try a hand saw for small jobs. Now I only use power tools for big sheet goods and it cuts cleanup time by more than half. Has anyone else ditched their circular saw for simple cuts?

Nah, power tools save time. Spend it cleaning, not sawing.

Yeah @the_james, but it's like anything else - you pick the tool that fits the job, not the one that makes you look busy.

You know, you're absolutely right. I spent a whole weekend once with a nice Japanese pull saw on some trim work, took my time and enjoyed it, and the result was way cleaner than if I'd just grabbed the circular saw and rushed through it.

Used to think anyone taking a hand saw to trim was just being stubborn about "doing it the old way" until I borrowed my buddy's dozuki last summer for some crown molding. Messed up a cut with my miter saw and tried finishing it by hand, I swear it came out smoother than anything I've ever done with power tools. Kinda slowed me down in a good way too, like you're actually working with the wood instead of just blasting through it lmao. Definitely changed my whole view on fine cuts since then.
