My neighbor said my caulk lines looked like a 5 year old did them

She pointed out I was pulling the gun too fast and not smoothing with my finger. I slowed way down and started using a damp sponge to clean up the edges. Now I’m wondering how many other basic skills I’ve been messing up without knowing?

Bluffing our way through" is right... but I actually see it a little differently. Once you learn one thing the right way, like the caulk thing, it makes you want to check everything else. @kim963 I feel you on the fitted sheet thing though, that one might actually be a lost cause no matter how many tutorials I watch. But some stuff like hammer grip or knife sharpening I never even thought about until someone said something. Now I'm overthinking every little thing I do around the house, which is annoying but also kind of satisfying when you fix it.

Three things I've realized as an adult (which is humbling): I was holding a hammer wrong my whole life, I had no idea how to actually sharpen a knife, and I still can't fold a fitted sheet right. It's wild how many basic skills we just kind of bluff our way through until someone calls us out.

@dylan_bell the fitted sheet thing is a lost cause for me too. I just ball it up and call it a day.
