My laminate floor transition decision in Columbus still bugs me

I had to pick between a $12 metal transition strip and a $6 vinyl one for my hallway to living room join. I went with the cheap vinyl because it matched better, but 6 months later it's already curling up at the edges where the dog runs over it. My neighbor swears by the metal ones and said hers have lasted 8 years without a problem. Now I'm looking at pulling up the vinyl, scraping the adhesive, and replacing it with the metal version this weekend. Anyone else regret saving a few bucks on floor transitions? What did you end up using?

Tbh I feel your pain because I once bought the cheap version of a shower curtain liner and it turned into a biohazard in like two weeks. At least yours is a clean fix, mine was a science experiment. Go with metal, future you will thank past you for not having to scrape adhesive off your knees again.
