Hot take: My deck project in Portland taught me to never skip the joist tape again.

I had to replace three rotted joists after just two years because I thought it was an upsell. Anyone have a brand they actually trust?

Yeah, I saw a contractor's video showing how much water gets trapped there without it. Makes total sense now.

My old house had that same problem, water pooled up behind the siding. I ended up using a 1-inch wide metal flashing strip above every window and door frame. It's cheap and totally redirects the runoff.
